About Tyne Coast Academy Trust
A passion for education, a belief and desire and ability of young people to achieve their dreams and goals, and the skills to power their progress - welcome to Tyne Coast Academy Trust. Our journey is your journey.
Tyne Coast Academy Trust represents the joining of schools across the region who share a collective vision for excellence in education at all stages.
We believe children and other young people within our communities deserve outstanding academic and vocational opportunities and experiences from the moment they begin their educational journey to them becoming successful people, able to lead happy, fulfilling and productive lives.
We consider the building of a solid foundation is paramount to providing an excellent education and that to allow students to thrive into successful individuals we must continue to provide high-quality teaching and learning throughout their educational journey. By sharing resources and expertise across Primary, Secondary, Tertiary and our University Technical College we can ensure our students are afforded the opportunities to achieve their potential.
Our students come from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds, and we are committed to helping them to achieve their maximum potential, whatever their starting point.
Our Sponsor – Tyne Coast College
Our Trust benefits from the unique position of being sponsored by a world-class college that has a reputation for excellence.
Tyne Coast College was formed in August 2017 from the merger of TES FE Awards 2017 ‘College of the Year’ and ‘Provider of the Year’ winner South Tyneside College, and Tyne Metropolitan College, in North Tyneside. Their exceptional brands include South Tyneside College, Tyne Metropolitan College, Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College; one of the North East’s top performing sixth forms, and South Shields Marine School; a world-leading maritime training centre.
Its diverse and innovative vocationally-driven curriculum, close links with employers and ambition to deliver outstanding provision means our schools can benefit from their expertise; ranging from their well-established, highly experienced leadership to their specialist insight into the educational needs of our region in preparing our young people to be well-equipped for their futures.
Our family of schools, based across the North East, work together to achieve our mission to provide the highest quality education and training, preparing young people for the future.
Including our sponsor, Tyne Coast College, we cover 5 Local Authorities and provide education and training from 3 years old through to adult training for any age. We are rightly proud of this unique position within education.

As an academy we are committed to giving every child the opportunity to BELIEVE in their own abilities, ACHIEVE the highest standards and SUCCEED in life. At the heart of everything that we do sit the principles of ensuring that your child is safe and cared for; we strive for excellence and quality through high standards and expectations each and every day. We treat every child with the same consideration, commitment and kindness that we would want for our own children and by embracing their varied experiences and needs, offer a broad and balanced curriculum. Key to this, is the partnership that we build between home, school and the community which allows our children to flourish intellectually, socially, physically, morally and spiritually.
Every child is recognised as being unique and our strong nurturing ethos, supports all children in their development of self –confidence, individuality, independence and resilience. The curriculum is broad, balanced and designed with pupils at the centre, enhancing knowledge, skills and cultural capital; equipping children for future learning and the next stage of their educational journey and indeed adulthood.
